I've lived in the Greater Binghamton Area for over 20 years. Having lived in the NJ suburbs, the rolling hills of northeastern Pennsylvania and this area of Upstate New York, I can honestly say that this is one of the best places to live, work and raise a family in this country. I am not here from birth but have chosen the Greater Binghamton Area as my home and am glad I did for so many reasons. We have some of the most affordable homes in the country, an excellent school system including SUNY Binghamton which has consistently been named one of the most affordable colleges in the country. We have some of the most beautiful parks, golf courses, fantastic restaurants and shopping. Why deal with the hustle and bustle of downstate and the suburbs when a typical commute here is about 15 minutes? This is made possible due to the strategic location of the Greater Binghamton Area to three major highways, Routes 17 (future Rt 86), Route 81 and Route 88. Binghamton is the "Carousel Capital of the World" and the former "Peirogi Capital of the World". It was also named one of the best places to retire in the country because of its affordable housing and availability of amenities within a short drive. The entire city is also wired with WiFi!
